Fences

This story demonstrates how a black family, in times where racism and segregation were present, confronts all the complicated issues of society such as adultery. The title refers to all the barriers and boundaries presented in the play by Troy, his wife, and racist people in that time. But is ironic how at the end Gabriel tries to open the gate of heaven and it only opens when Gabriel does a traditional African dance, corroborating his African origins, the one he should be proud of.
