Her sister Josephine and Richard who is her husband's friend has to break the horrifying news to her as gently as possible. Even though the news is heartbreaking she is finally free from the depressing life she was living. She keeps whispering "Free! Body and soul free!". She now is happy because she doesn't have to live for anyone but herself now. At the end of the story, Mr. Millard opens the door and is surprised by Josephine's cry. Mr. Millard didn't have a faintest idea about the accident. With a quick motion, Richard tried to block Mr. Millard's view of his wife but it was too late. The doctors said she died of a heart disease. The story ends with a short phrase "of joy that kills".

Homage to My Hips

In "Homage to My Hips", Lucille Clifton creates some kind of imagery pertaining to her hips. She seems all into herself, more specifically, her hips. She makes it a point to convey that her hips are strong or powerful by the lines "they go where they want to go. /they do what they want to do. /these hips are mighty." She gets into how her hips are big and mighty, no one can hold them back, and how they can even seduce men.Although this poem is quite simple and short it says alot. This poem reveals the beauty and the working of poetic language and imagery. It captures the symbolism of the body and illustrates who is in charge.

The Tell Tale Heart

The Tell-Tale Heart" is a first-person narrative of a genderless narrator who is taking care of an old man with a clouded, vulture-like eye. The narrator's paranoid symptoms lead to an irrational fear of the weird clouded eye. The narrator becomes so distressed by the eye, he plots to murder the old man. However, the old man's eyes are shut, hiding the clouded eye, and the narrator loses the urge to kill. One night, though, the old man awakens as the narrator watches, revealing the eye. The narrator proceeds to chop the body up, and hide the pieces under the floorboards. The narrator then cleans the place up to hide all signs of the crime. The narrator, however, begins to hear a noise. This paranoia increases as the officers seem to pay no attention to the sound. The narrator loses control and confesses to killing the old man .Throughout the story the narrator insists on being sane, yet at the same time, giving the impression of serious hallucinations or paranoia, possibly caused by guilt from having murdered an elderly man.

The Lottery

The story contrasts commonplace details of contemporary life with a barbaric ritual known as the "lottery". After a person from each family draws a small piece of paper, one slip with a black spot indicates the Hutchinson family has been chosen. When each member of that family draws again to see which family member "wins," Tessie Hutchinson is the final choice. She is then stoned by everyone present, including her own family. This story represents how this town follows a tradition without any purpose or without knowing its creation.

The House of Asterion

Jorge Luis Borges, undoubtedly one of the most important and influential writers of the last or any other century. Asterion (or Asterios) was the son of the witch queen Pasiphae (wife of the Cretan king Minos) and a bull she happened to fall in love with. Asterion lived in an ingenious building constructed by the inventor Daedalus and spent his free time consuming innocent youths until Thesus put a stop to that nasty habit.

Dulce et Decorum

In the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est written by Wilfred Owen, the speaker appears to be a soldier in the army, warning young people eager for war, "children ardent for some desperate glory," that war is not what it seems. The soldier explains to the reader through first hand experience that fighting for one's country is not as glorious a task as it may appear to be. One shouldn't believe the lie that is told about how it is sweet and proper to die for one's country.

Dover Beach

"Dover Beach” is a melancholic poem. Matthew Arnold uses the means of pathetic fallacy, when he attributes or to a certain extent projects the human feeling of sadness against an inorganic object like the sea. At the same time he creates a feeling of tragedy. The reader can feel sympathy for the suffering lyrical self, who suffers under the existing conditions.

Los Vendidos

Los Vendidos combines different stereotypical images of "the Mexican" in a humorous and sarcastic look at what it really means to be a Mexican in . As the name implies, this act generalizes what others think about Mexicans in hopes that by showing the restrictions of what we think. This piece consists of two main characters: the seller and the buyer, though which is which becomes problematic. The "Seller" wants only to make money and obviously cares nothing about what exactly he's selling shown through his horrifyingly shocking theme of selling people (Mexicans). The "Buyer" represents the American government, concerned only with politics, by maintaining the illusion that they care about different ethnic groups by adding a voiceless brown face only speaking what the Government wants it to

Westland Mall

I really enjoyed the day I spent at Westland Mall helping the children to paint. It was amazing how these kids enjoyed painting. I also painted some of their faces. Some of them wanted to be clowns, and others wanted some kind of tattoos. I think Miami Dade College did a great job and its good this kind of relationship between parents, children and the college; because they start to see the college as an option of education for kids. Many young people ask for application of admission for the college. That would be great, that teenagers who has lost contact with school come back and don’t give it up. It was nice to be part of this at least for one day. I really encourage all students to help the college in this journey.

Fences

This story demonstrates how a black family, in times where racism and segregation were present, confronts all the complicated issues of society such as adultery. The title refers to all the barriers and boundaries presented in the play by Troy, his wife, and racist people in that time. But is ironic how at the end Gabriel tries to open the gate of heaven and it only opens when Gabriel does a traditional African dance, corroborating his African origins, the one he should be proud of.

"A Good Man is Hard to Find"

"A Good Man Is Hard to Find" describes the murder of a family by a group of convicts guided by a killer called The Misfit. In general, it was an ugly family: a controlling grandmother, her son Bailey, his submissive wife, and their not easy children, June Star and John Wesley. The family plans to travel on vacation to the state of Florida. The grandmother, worried by news about an escaped convict (The Misfit), attempts to persuade the family to change their destination. Another characteristic in this narrative is that there are several ironies presented in this play that may catch your attention.

"Go Look"

In "Go Look", Kath and Danny are round and complex characters that changes through the play. They develop and show their emotions and thoughts without any inhibition. They look some kind immature because they argue for everything even there is not reason, saying strong arguments. They discover about themselves that they have dark sides, bad thoughts and many secrets they haven't released. They discover that sometimes they hate in some way the people they love. Maybe we need to take a time and thing about ourselves. Do we have a dark side? These play has made us reflex about know better the person next to us. Think about that, do you really know the person who shares everything with you?
